Horticultural Description

Begonia dregei is an interesting species from South Africa. It is called semi tuberous but it has at its base a water storage mechanism called a caudex. This can be shown to good advantage when it is planted in a bonsai type pot. Also known a one of the 'Maple Leaf ' begonias. Do not overwater. NEW 2012.

🌿 Jen’s Bench Notes:

“In our Lake Erie greenhouses, this cultivar produces its most vibrant foliage when given consistent morning light and steady warmth. When your order arrives, allow it to settle for 24 hours in indirect light before potting up into fresh, airy potting mix.”

— Jen Webber, Lead Horticulturist
